MUSIC: A BLESSING FROM ALLAH

Music is a blessing Allah created as a delightful pleasure for human beings. It is a miracle the way that people take pleasure from sound waves. Sound waves moving through the air are collected, and then converted into nerve impulses and transmitted to the brain. This sound being distinguished as music by the brain and perceived as something that will be enjoyable takes place by Allah bestowing the significance He chooses on the sound and depicting it to us as pleasurable. When the sense of hearing is examined in technical terms, the processes involved in hearing the sound of a creaking door and in listening to a symphony are exactly the same. Vibrations between a frequency of 15 Hertz (the tone emitted by a 10 m organ pipe) and 20,000 Hertz are collected by the external ear and transmitted into the ear passage, finally arriving at the ear membrane. This membrane then causes the small bones in the middle ear to vibrate, and sound vibrations are converted into mechanical ones. These mechanical vibrations cause the fluid inside an organ in the inner ear called the cochlea to vibrate. Tiny hair-like structures on the inner face of the cochlea convert these vibrations into nerve impulses and forward them to the brain, where they are interpreted.
It is of course impossible for the brain, a piece of flesh weighing around 1.5 kilograms, to produce meaning from these sounds or to know joy, excitement or peace. It is of course Almighty Allah Who creates sounds, gives them meaning and thus produces an effect in our souls. The way that such a flawless system is able to operate in a perfect fashion is one of the proofs of Allah’s existence and greatness. Allah produces music within the silence of the brain, and it is also He Who creates its impact. It is only by Allah’s will that the sounds of instruments playing one after the other produce pleasure, happiness and excitement in the human soul. This is a great mercy and blessing from Allah.

Saintis-saintis Malaysia yang pernah ke Artik untuk penyelidikan mereka tiga tahun lalu menyaksikan bongkah-bongkah ais di Artik semakin mengecil dan suhunya juga semakin panas.
SAAT melabuhkan punggung di tempat duduk kapal terbang, perasaan Profesor Madya Dr. Siti Aisah Alias bercampur baur.
Keterujaan saintis dari Universiti Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur itu tidak dapat digambarkan apabila buat pertama kalinya beliau menjejakkan kaki ke Lautan Artik. Lautan yang dipenuhi bongkah-bongkah ais dan beruang polar.
Biarpun kedatangannya ke lautan yang terkecil dan tercetek antara empat lautan di dunia iaitu Lautan Atlantik, Lautan Hindi, Lautan Pasifik dan Lautan Selatan itu atas urusan penyelidikan, namun Siti benar-benar tidak sabar.
Pensyarah Institut Biologikal Sains, Fakulti Sains UM itu sudah membuat persediaan rapi apatah lagi suhu di Artik dikatakan mencecah bawah 10 darjah Celsius.
Perjalanan yang mengambil masa 20 jam dari Malaysia itu memaksa beliau dan dua rakan saintis yang lain iaitu Profesor Madya Dr. Irene Tan Kit Ping dan Profesor Dr. Phang Siew Moi menempuh perjalanan ke Amsterdam, Belanda; Oslo, Norway; Longyearbyen dan Svalbard Arctic sebelum sampai ke Lautan Artik.
Tiga saintis itu mencipta sejarah dalam kalangan penyelidik serantau apabila menjadi kumpulan pertama ke Artik bagi menjalankan kajian bakteria, alga dan kulat tiga tahun lalu.
Apabila kapal terbang merentasi Lautan Artik yang berkeluasan kira-kira 14,090,000 kilometer persegi iaitu 1.5 kecil sedikit berbanding saiz Amerika Syarikat (AS) itu, Siti segera merapatkan mukanya ke cermin kapal terbang untuk melihat pemandangan Lautan Artik dari atas.
Ternyata apa yang dilihatnya mengejutkan. Lautan yang disangkanya penuh dengan ais itu kini dipenuhi air. Bongkah-bongkah ais telah cair.
"Sebelum ini Artik dikenali sebagai sebuah lautan ais. Namun, pertama kali menjejakkan kaki ke sana pada 17 hingga 24 Julai 2006, ia berbeza dengan apa yang saya sangkakan.
"Banyak bongkah ais yang mula mengecil berikutan kesan pemanasan global. Paling mengejutkan saya ialah apabila suhu yang dijangka terlalu sejuk bertukar menjadi panas mencecah sehingga 18 darjah Celsius," katanya yang berasa panas ketika berada di Artik kerana memakai pakaian tebal.
Ais sangat penting. Jika ais cair ia akan membahayakan kehidupan bukan sahaja di Artik tetapi juga di kawasan bumi yang lain. Ia turut mengakibatkan sumber pemakanan manusia mahupun binatang akan terjejas.
"Perairan Malaysia tidak terkecuali menerima ancaman kemusnahan. Sebahagian besarnya disebabkan manusia dan selebihnya oleh kesan semula jadi" katanya yang pernah memenangi anugerah Langkawi pada tahun 1957 berikutan usahanya memelihara alam sekitar.
Jelas Salleh, pengalaman berada di Artik menyuntik kesedaran pada dirinya. Hidup di dunia ibarat seperti sebuah keluarga.
Apa jua tindakan seperti pencemaran dan tidak menjaga alam sekitar dengan baik akan memberi implikasi kepada yang lain.
Kini, penduduk dunia sudah mula merasai kesan hasil daripada kerakusan sejak berpuluh tahun lamanya.

cubaan dan dugaan datang menguji...
2,3 menjak ni cam x brape ok rase..
x ley nk tido malam sgt, lau tido pon mmg xley terganggu...
even bunyi beep pon akan tersedar...xtau la naper...
may b banyak sgt kot esimen nk kna settlekn...
xpon,masih lg terkejut ngan brita ma masuk hspital hari tu...
mmg terkejut sgt...
tp ape yg berlaku de hikmah nye..
xpe la..
ni dugaan yg mmg perlu dtempuhi ngan sabar n tabah...
